Description of the course
After the two successful EES-UETP summer schools in 2016 and 2017, the Energy Analytics and Markets (ELMA) group of Center for Electric Power and Energy (CEE), Department of Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is pleased to invite PhD and MSc students, postdocs and researchers in industry to the 3rd DTU EES-UETP Summer School 2018, which will focus on "Modern Optimization in Energy Systems". The venue will be DTU Lyngby campus (12km North of Copenhagen) from June 25 to 29, 2018.
Course objectives
DTU EES-UETP Summer School brings together academics and industry professionals from around the world, in an intensive 5-day course, where they learn about the latest developments in optimization for energy systems, connect, and exchange ideas. Distinguished speakers from the US and Europe, excelling both in research and teaching, are invited to give 3-hour lectures both providing the fundamentals and introducing advanced topics in their field. The students who complete their group project will be issued 2.5 ECTS.

Four Available Awards and Registration Process
The applicants are invited to submit a motivation letter by March 15, 2018 via our website: http://www.energy-markets-school.dk/ The successful applicants will be informed by March 20, and requested to complete the registration process by April 10, 2018. The goal of this motivation letter (2 pages at most) is to ensure that the scientific level of summer school will be high, and this event will be eventually fruitful for all participants.
In addition, we have four awards (two MOSEK and two DTU awards), and the awardees will be eventually selected based on motivation letters. Please note that the awardees will be announced during the event, so all successful applicants are expected to complete the registration process by April 10. The registration fee and accommodation cost of awardees will be reimbursed after the event. The important dates are:
- March 18, 2018: Deadline for motivation letter submission
- March 30, 2018: Applicants notified about acceptance of their application
- April 10, 2018: Deadline for registration fee payment
- June 25-29, 2019: DTU EES-UETP Summer School 2018 (the four awardees will be announced during the event)
